Beginning January 31, 2013, at 12:10 p.m. and again at 4:40 p.m., and on the last Thursday of each month thereafter, members of Methodist Hospital?s Therapy Services Department have teamed up with the Henderson County Family YMCA to bring free health information to the community.?

??????????? In January, Therapy Services Director, Gina Schultheis, PT, MHS, DPT, will present ?Fitness ? Where Do I Begin??? This 20-minute presentation will focus on undertaking a fitness regimen in a safe and healthy way.?? Schultheis has practiced physical therapy for 25 years in a variety of settings, including outpatient rehab, industrial medicine, home health, and skilled nursing facilities. ??She completed her Bachelor of Physical Therapy at the University of Evansville and her Master of Health Services degree with an emphasis in Orthopedics at the University of Indianapolis. ?She completed a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Kentucky.

??????????? Seven therapists in the Methodist Hospital Therapy Services Department have achieved doctorate level degrees in physical therapy, including specialties.? Topics scheduled for 2013 include healthy feet and hands, ergonomics, aquatic therapy, core strength, fall prevention, back health, and weight training.? You need not be a member of the YMCA to attend these free, monthly events.

Therapy Services is encouraging the community to prepare now for participation in the Methodist Gastroenterology 5K Run/Walk for colorectal cancer awareness month scheduled for March 16, 2013, at 8:30 a.m.? This event will take participants along the beautiful Henderson riverfront and, in partnership with the Henderson Regional Hospital Foundation, will create a fund for uninsured patients to receive colonoscopies and other gastroenterology services.?
