The matter raises tensions between the U.S. and Israel because the suit was being pursued in light of "tough U.S. anti-financing laws."
The boy, Daniel Wultz, was killed in 2006. And according to jta.org, Israel was supposed to provide an intelligence official for the case if the Wultzes would but file suit. Subsequently, the Wultzes filed suit only to have Israel pull out at China's insistence.?
Over the weekend U.S. Ambassador Michael Oren was sent to Jerusalem, where he met with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Oren reportedly told Netanyahu that the Obama administration "is ready to subpoena the intelligence official if [he is not made] available."
