Some South Florida flights cancelled due to Tropical Storm Chantal

American Airlines cancelled 22 flights to and from Haiti and the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.

American Airlines and GOL Transportes Aereos on Wednesday collectively cancelled more than two dozen flights from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, The Miami Herald reports.

At least three flights to Hispaniola from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) have also been cancelled.

American Airlines cancelled 22 flights to and from the islands, the airline confirmed. The airline doesn't expect to cancel any flights on Thursday, but Chantal is expected to push further north through the Caribbean and land near South Florida on Friday.

According to the latest weather advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Chantal is forecast to hit the Upper Keys on Friday morning as a tropical depression and move through South Florida during the weekend.
